Rugby and beer; a great combination... unless you’re playing, of course! Designed for the rugby enthusiast, this golden beer has the perfect balance of hops & bitterness to compliment your rugby day out.

We've created this beer using our experience of operating real-ale bars at Twickenham and listening to what rugby fans want... and buy! As a result, Loosehead has slightly more aroma than usual to give a good nose even on cold winter days. We found ABVs below 4% weren't so popular, so we've brewed this beer with a slightly higher ABV that you'd expect from a golden ale but it's still very easy drinking!

We gave Nigel Barden (BBC's Radio2 food & drink guru) a sample of Blackpit's Loosehead. His notes we as follows:

" Mid to light brown in colour & on the nose it’s enticingly butterscotch with a touch of barley sugar. There are caramel notes on the palate with a hint of sweetness. On the finish you’re left with plenty of citrus & floral notes, underpinned by a lingering hit of bitterness " Read Less

It's blond in appearance, very light but with a good hit of bitterness and finishes with a grapefruit and herbal nose. Read Less

This is our take on a traditional bitter. The ones we've grown up drinking with our fathers. Its a good, honest 'English' pub beer. Rich, smooth and elegant on the palate, Goshawk draws to a clean, satisfying finish with beautifully balanced bitterness.

Why the name Goshawk? T. H. White, author of 'The Sword in the Stone', lived at Blackpit Farm whilst teaching at Stowe School. He also wrote 'The Goshawk' - an account of his attempt to train a northern Goshawk using traditional falconry techniques. With a story like that, why wouldn't you use the name?! Read Less
