The name of the beer comes from the last standing city gate of Delft, De Oostpoort. This gate is also known as the Sint Catherijne Gate. Eclipse symboliseert de fase van de coronapandemie waarin het Fermentatie Festival 2021 werd gehouden. De corona rond de deels verduisterde zon laat zien dat hoewel het toen een donkere tijd was, de zon op het punt stond om door te breken. Eclipse was ons 30ste brouwsel. We kozen hiervoor een bierstijl, die we nog niet eerder hadden geprobeerd: een black IPA. We zijn voor een donkere IPA gegaan zonder dat de geroosterde moutsmaak overheerst, door gebruik te maken van koude extracties waarbij de resulterende zwarte vloeistof aan het einde van het kookproces is toegevoegd.
