Jacob Cottreau is drinking a Winterkriek Kaneel (2017) by Bokke
Anniversary celebration bottle! Aroma: schaarbeekse cherries, dusty cellar, merlot grape, Barbera wine, marzipan Taste: juicy, tannic, lambic backbone shines through. Dry oak reminiscent of elegant aged red wine, leather, funk, creamy, integrated C02

The nose and initial taste is of those familiar Belgian cherries but taste is surprisingly not jammy, acidic nor fruit forward. It evens out as more of a Pinot with that kriek complementary cinnamon. Still delish, low carb, maybe a tad past its prime?

Low carb, cinnamon, and earth forward on the nose, Kyle says he smells the cherries. On the palate, it's very mild and not overwhelmingly tart, or rather, non at all. Drinks like a matured wine. Maybe past its prime? Nonetheless, great kriek.

Jacob Cottreau: After taste: vanillins, whisper of oak, some subtle warming baking spices especially nutmeg, low acidity. Black pepper. Extremely long finish. Really amazing mix of both schaarbeekse and gorsem.

Jacob Cottreau: Schaarbeekse adds that marzipan, almond note where the gorsem adds some juiciness to the blend. Old lambic rounds the two and isn't surpassed by the fruit (or cinnamon) additions. Given blind I would absolutely think this was a red wine / cherry blend.
