US Red Ale

Before the Prohibition era, the popular Red Ale in America was a variant of the Irish Amber Ale. The red beer was made by small breweries with local ingredients. After the prohibition period, the small breweries disappeared when beer production was concentrated in the industrial breweries and narrower range. The changes in the law during the 1970s in the USA enabled a renaissance for the small breweries and started the rapidly growing craft beer movement that spread all over the world.
