The Mad Hatter Brewing Company was launched in 2013, and supplied licensed premises throughout the country and as far afield as Australia.
Penny Lane Pale Ale, Toxteth IPA and Tzatziki Sour were its most famous beers. It was well known as being an innovative brewery that shook up the boundaries of what people thought was possible with beer.
The business employed six people and was based on Lightbody Street in the city centre.
The company began to experience financial difficulties in 2017 due to unforeseen costs associated with it’s premises move. The owner of the business decided, after every effort to save the business as a going concern, that it was necessary to appoint liquidators. Trading finally ceased in 2018.
