Dare IPA is one of those beers; a young, unfiltered, unprocessed, aggressively hopped West-Coast-meets-New-England IPA bursting with floral and citrus flavours and aroma straight from the tanks into the can [to the taps] [to the keg].

Ice Crusher is the big brother to our Backyard summer favourite. It’s a darker gold colour, uses the more piquant Kaffir Lime zest grown in the Marquesas Islands and packs a bit more punch.

At Royal Docks, we simply adore intellectually challenging brews that beckon one to explore their depths and parse each nuanced sip.

This ain’t one of those beers. There’s thinkin’ beer and there’s drinking’ beer and Ice Crusher is a drinkin’ beer.

It’s light and genuinely refreshing — starting with a hint of lime zest on and finishing with rounded gently tart quench that begs for another gulp.

It is a perfect way to remind yourself that it was summer once and will be again.

Hodfellow is a light, straw-coloured German-style Pilsner with a light grainy malt character that presents with a clean, white head. An initial lager-like sulphide aroma cedes immediately to a distinctively floral character from prized noble Halletau Hersbrucker hops. It drinks crisp and bitter with a medium-dry finish dominated by a balanced hop bitterness.


Every brewery tells tale of machinery that somehow changes settings overnight and tools that inexplicably go missing. One brewery, convinced they were dealing with a biersal; a cellar spirit that can either help or hinder the brewers, started offering a daily wage paid in beer to appease their mischievous imp whom they nicknamed Robin Hodfellow. From that day on, the tools stayed in the chest and the equipment remained tuned. This pils - along with the daily wage we set out in our brewery - is our tribute to Hodfellow.


THE STORY:
Fremlin’s was a brewery that was founded in 1850 in Maidstone, Kent, England - about an hour southeast of London. Beginning as early as 1865, Fremlin’s Brewery company tradition included the fabled existence of an unseen, ambivalent house spirit nicknamed Robin Hodfellow.


Hodfellow was said to be a biersal, a type of kobold; a house-spirit from German folklore that inhabits breweries and beer cellars.
