Snazzy Affair

Snazzy Affair is an Imperial Pastry style Stout aged 7 months in A. Smith Bowman Bourbon Barrels brewed for our 8th Anniversary. This addition to our “Affair” stout series was inspired by Cinnamon Peanut Butter Blossoms. Somewhere between a fluffy sugar cookie and a peanut butter & chocolate candy bar, Peanut Butter Blossoms are a homemade treat that could be found cooling on grandma’s counter throughout the year.

To bring forth flavors reminiscent of this freshly baked treat, we kicked things off by brewing a thick base beer and added Lactose. From there, we conditioned it on a ton of Cinnamon to balance the barrel character, pounds of fresh Vanilla, tons of sticky Peanut Butter, and an absurd amount of high-grade Cacao Nibs. Pouring a deep black-ish brown with a thin mocha-colored head, we’re finding notes reminiscent of Nutterbutter cookies layered between gooey cinnamon fudge, sweet brown sugar, and freshly soaked bourbon vanilla beans.
