The Lucky Ones

While The Lucky Ones is neither too bitter nor too sweet, it has been a bittersweet beer to make. An ode to our dearest friend Mike "Tasty" McDole, who passed away back in October 2020; we utilized some techniques and concepts we learned from Tasty along the way to make this beer for a celebration in his honor at his home away from home, The Hop Grenade. Shortly after we first opened, we saw a familiar face standing next to the bar with a pint in his hand; it was none other than Tasty, the man, the myth, the guy that taught so many of us how to brew over the airwaves many years prior. He had a super-power for critiquing your beer while making it sound like a compliment, he would build your confidence like no one else could, and beyond anything else, he was a friend-maker. Around the world, Tasty made friends and introduced friends to friends, and those friends became friends. So many of our friends now we met through Tasty. While he might not be here with us right now, his stickers on the walls of beer halls around the world and the friendships he constructed will keep his spirit alive forever.
