Savoury prune aroma, sharp sweetness is sultana, mild & mellow stewed vine fruits, can’t help think I’m drinking a juicy laxative 🤔

Yesterday. Wow! Like nothing I've tried before. Acidity but besides that lots of complex notes of dried fruits. Figs, dates, walnut hints and notes of coffee and vanilla. Add plums, prunes and wood and we're almost there. Superb!

alan ferguson: This was a first class beer experience and the good company didn't hurt either.

Oh... oh... My all time favourite beer experience. I'm glad to share it with Julie and Ulrik. I had it in 2019 so I got myself a bottle at the start of the pandemic and I've been keeping it ever since for a special beer occasion. This was that occasion.
Purchased at BEER ZOO
alan ferguson: This time. Nose of coffee, caramelised brown sugar,, tanins, wood and some spicy alcohol. Lightish, flat, (good in barleywine) drying. Toffee and raisins then caramelised sugars before plums and figs join in and then some restrained acidity and booze...
alan ferguson: Before the toffee and raisins reassert themselves in the finish. Woody perhaps slightly Sherry notes were always there in the background. A symphony in a glass. A prog rock concept album of a beer
Hopsleeve: Nice. Haven’t tried this yet. Did though, just acquire LEP’s Defunkt IPA - mk II. In the ‘cellar’ for a spesh occ.
alan ferguson: Hopsleeve I have no idea if you can still get hold of it but go for it if you can. I'm looking forward to seeing the results of your purchase in about 2 years.
Ulrik Olsen: Thx so much, alan f. for sharing this and your time with us last night! Amazing experience 😁
alan ferguson: Ulrik O. I'll never forget it. Cheers to you both.

Bottle sharing thanks to @alanf. This has been saved for 3 years. The acidity is well hidden. So many complex notes of plums, figs and dates. Vanilla aroma.
alan ferguson: Oh it was special. Oh wow.
Julie J: The company was equaly special though 🥰

Officially Mk II, but who's counting? Jammy and full of fruit, malty, a little bit sweet with a little edge of funk. Absolutely doesn't taste its strength, either. Gorgeous.
