Drunken Sailor (Irish Whiskey Barrel)

Making this beer has been quite the voyage. It started as an idea by one of our Brick and Mortar Society members, Gary, who won the opportunity to collaborate with us on a beer of his choosing last January. We settled on a stout that mimicked flavors of Irish Cream - milk (lactose), chocolate (cacoa nibs), coffee (Guatemalan Xinabajul from Lexington Roasters), plus almond and vanilla. We then took a portion and aged it for a year in an Irish Whiskey barrel, to double down on the Irish theme and introduce even more complexity from the oak and subtle booze notes. The multiple components have come together more cohesively, while some interesting fruity and earthy notes have come forward. We think you’ll be pleased with the results. Show Less
