Everything that you want a barrel aged RIS to be! It says two years on Big Springs whiskey barrels, but does not have the overwhelming whiskey taste that you might expect for aging that long. This beer is damn near perfect!

If I had to describe the flavor profile of the additions, id sum it up as pink peppercorns. Pint pours are a bit much for this,even though the abv is low. Floral, herbal and spicy. It has probably been 10+ years since I last had any Fantome.

To be fair, I am leaving a shot of the packaging code. But I also think that it is more likely that there are fans of an DIPA like this. I thought that it was gross and kind of "pukey." The 1.75 is only because I think that this was the intended flavor.

The first sip is almost jarring because only a very few beers dare to go this deep into the dark (espresso) roast. Immediately it starts to pull you into its world. Half way through and you realize that it is comforting as the first flakes land outside.
