Keith Rogers is drinking a Straight Jacket (2022) by Revolution Brewing
Best value in Barrel-aged English-style barleywine. This year’s is particularly good. Perfect fireside ale. Toffee, treacle, liquid bread pudding with bourbon sauce all richly layered.

For 30 years I’ve been drinking this beer. This is like a warm blanket that transports me to the first micro brewery revolution in the 90s. Simpler times. Pepperidge Farms remembers! Now where’s that Amber lager, American Wheat and Porter?

This particular vintage (2017) is masterfully showing the aging potential of Shaun’s beers. With no fruit added, it’s astounding how much this tastes like Consecration sans currants. Tannic, with many aged sherried notes, the best touch of oxidation.
