J.D. is drinking The Wet Mile by Mare Island Brewing Co. at Untappd at Home
High malt, low alcohol heat for high ABV%, visible but not overpowering spice, & moreish drinkability for style. Untappd’s entry for this is a mess — the Fall 2020 I’m drinking & mostly shows up here is 12.2%, not 10+. Best Mare Isle I’ve had to date.

Downgrading slightly. Still fantastic beer, but not as amazing as it used to be. This also is the 1st time I’ve had it in a can not than glass, & I had slight metallic taste this time. Possible coincidence; I have more of this batch so further testing.

Starts out as a vodka shot and ends up as a drip-coffee poured over a mound of roughly-ground espresso roast, with pretty much linear progression between the two. Still, even unbalanced and as a non-coffee-drinker, that somehow mostly works.

Does what the Rhinegeist Truth was attempting, but does it better. A little hot but it fades, a little grassy but it levels off, and while the fruit elements aren’t as prominent it seems more integrated. Solid rather than amazing, but winner of flight.
Couldn’t make it to Allagash out in Maine last week, so compensating now. 2nd ‘Gash of the night. I still prefer the old bottle label for no rationally explicable reason, but what’s inside remains consistently yummers. Great brewery, great brew.
