As good as ever.

Speckled Jim is drinking a Very Big Moose 2023 Rum Edition by Fierce Beer at Fairies Road
Nice and boozy. Getting a wee bit of the rum barrel infusion, but not as thick a mouthfeel as I require for this calibre of ale. The last of my Christmas specials from Fierce, & unfortunately I have to conclude they’re not up to it for imperial stouts.
Purchased at Craft Beer Bottle Shop
Speckled Jim is drinking a DARK MATTER // DECADENT STOUT by Northern Monk at Fairies Road
The best one of the 3 samples I’ve had. Syrupy, viscous mouthfeel, dark liquorice and molasses flavour. Pity this is my last one of a good discontinued product. Big-up Northen Monk.

Subtlety tropical on the nose. Quite clean but mild flavour, not as zingy as non GF variety, however that might be due to being a year past BBE date😆
Speckled Jim is drinking a Dubh by Cullach Brewing at Fairies Road
Wonderful complex stout. Consistently excellent, either on draught from the taproom or in can. Liquorice and molasses. Great!
Purchased at Cullach Brewing Taproom
Speckled Jim is drinking a GREAT NORTHERN BITTER // 2024 EDITION by Northern Monk at Fairies Road
Classic Yorkshire Bitter. Malty, with caramel sweetness. Exactly as expected - in a good way.
Purchased at Morrisons
Speckled Jim is drinking a Bring Out the Imp II by Alechemy Brewing Ltd at Fairies Road
Time to bring out the Imp. He was sleeping, but I thought “I guess I’m gonna have to wake him up now, won’t I?” Consistently good. Coffee, milk chocolate, molasses.
Purchased at Aldi
Speckled Jim is drinking a Caribbean Rum Cask by Innis & Gunn at Fairies Road
Demerara sugar sweetness with dark rum flavour. A firm favourite of mine, however this one’s got a cloying finish which spoils it somewhat. Rating downgraded accordingly.
Purchased at Aldi
Speckled Jim is drinking a Dungeon by Dun Brewing at Fairies Road
Exploding beer bomb on opening. Salvaged about 330ml from a 440 can. Dark, sweet malty flavour. Bit of background coffee there too.
Speckled Jim is drinking a Cocoa Wonderland by Thornbridge Brewery at Fairies Road
Nice, smooth sweet chocolatey vanilla porter.

Smooth coffee infused stout. Easy drinking at what is now considered low alcohol/session ale at 5%!
Purchased at Aldi
Speckled Jim is drinking a Coconut Chocolate Cake Stout by New Bristol Brewery at Fairies Road
Coconut on the nose, and on the palate, with bitter dark chocolate and vanilla. It has a silky mouthfeel, however the finish is disappointing a bit cloying, which spoils it somewhat.

Smooth, coffee, chocolate, vanilla & liquorice. Nice.

Speckled Jim is drinking a Very Big Moose by Fierce Beer at Fairies Road
Loses its head quickly, which appears consistent with Fierce, however the mouthfeel stays silky. Rich dark chocolate and vanilla flavours, and a good 12% hit.
Purchased at Craft Beer Bottle Shop
Speckled Jim is drinking a Rollin' Coaster by 71 Brewing at Fairies Road
Nice, refreshing DIPA. Tropical sweetness with piney sharpness. Another good one from 71.
Purchased at Gloagburn Farm Shop
Speckled Jim is drinking a Peanut Butter Very Big Moose by Fierce Beer at Fairies Road
Rich, dark chocolate, vanilla, with peanut butter notes. I know it loses its head quickly, but the mouthfeel is quite viscous which I like. This is better than I’d anticipated, and a kind gift.

This is strange, not what I expected for a 7.5% Guinness. More sweet than bitter, with a flavour of brambles? I expected a complex dark liquorice/molasses experience. Not what I’d planned for the last ale of as a quinquagenarian. Very disappointing.
