I loved seeing calculated improvement w/ each batch side-by-side. Tons of black cherry on nose; notes of chocolate plum pudding, orange zest, apricot, & marzipan. Palate features barrel character w/ dark cocoa & leather, walnut, & vermouth. Layered.

Ty Cole: Loved visiting that brewery - they do some amazing brews! I’ve had Adam & Fred brews but not Don Barleywine’s. The Owner retired & closed the brewery in June 2022…. So Don 2023? Cheers Eric G. 🍻
Eric Griffin: Ty C. Jealous you got to visit the source! So yeah, after Alan announced their closure, he still had a lot of stuff in barrels. He “posthumously” released a handful of HotD beers after announcing they were closing. This included one final release of Don!

It’s 17% and you can really taste. That alcohol sting is SO strong and overpowering, to the detriment of this beer, unfortunately. Below that are some great flavors, but far too strong.
