John BD is drinking a Kriek du Fermier (Blend #2) by Side Project Brewing at Scarborough Village
As a general rule I’m not a huge kriek guy but this was astonishingly good - restrained cherry character with lots of dry champagne body. Light funk and less acidic than SP sours often are. Really good.

Lots of juicy apricot and a dash of farmhouse funk with a nicely dry finish. Quite tasty, thanks Jimmy.
John BD is drinking a Dragon’s Milk: Triple Mash (2023) by New Holland Brewing at Scarborough Village
Boozy but not overwhelming - this is designed for lovers of big stouts but it retains a nice balance that is rich without being overly sweet.

Cellar cleaning! Legit surprised at how solid this still was - noticeably older, but way less oxidized than expected and still has some decent roasty notes. Cheers to a decade old beer.
John BD is drinking an Anniversary Blend 2023 by Black Dog Brewing Company at Scarborough Village
Lots of adjuncts up front and overall a smooth, sweet character - only complaint is that the back end lacks a lot of the depth and complexity that come with higher end stouts.

All the adjuncts come through nicely, which is a bit surprising for an older bottle that isn’t barrel aged. Coconut up front followed immediately by PB, and some nice chocolatey nilla in the finish. Pretty solid. Thanks Dan H.
John BD is drinking a Moher Mocha by Tree House Brewing Company at Scarborough Village
Big coffee nose, rich chocolate, fudgy body and a drier than expected finish. Sweet, but not overly so. Real good!

Tart and somewhat funky, though frankly I’d like either a bit more fruit or some earthiness - this seems to have fallen a bit flat. Not bad, but age hasn’t been as kind to this as it maybe would a true Belgian lambic.

Delightful as expected; hard to compare the depth without a SBS of other stouts, but seems to hold up to what I remember. Definitely more dry cocoa than BCBS often has. Great bottle to celebrate with Dan H.
John BD is drinking a Barrel Aged Mastodon by Rhinegeist Brewery at Scarborough Village
Honestly better than I expected, this still has plenty of sweet molasses notes and some boozy warmth. Not really any oxidation to speak of. Thanks Dan H.
John BD is drinking a Punchdown Framrood by Funk Factory Geuzeria at Scarborough Village
Really nice with some age on it - bright raspberry and some juicy cherry, with a hefty funk presence and moderate tartness. My FFG stash is sadly dwindling but glad to open this for a special occasion.
John BD is drinking a Hoppopotamus by Metazoa Brewing Co. at Scarborough Village
Nice balanced body - floral and citrusy with a moderately dry finish. This basically goes with everything. Thanks Dan H.
John BD is drinking a Beer : Barrel : Time (2022) by Side Project Brewing at Scarborough Village
#CatchingUp #SoBroEuchre Crazy to have BBTs back to back, but both this and the 21 are incredible beers. Ever so slight ding to this one as the alternating sweet & leathery back end doesn’t quite hit 21’s perfection, but it’s still glorious.
John BD is drinking a Beer : Barrel : Time (2021) by Side Project Brewing at Scarborough Village
#CatchingUp #SoBroEuchre An all-time favorite, this is a top-to-bottom banger. Silky smooth body, rich boozy milk chocolate, just all around well balanced to the highest degree.
John BD is drinking a Beastmaster Aged In Ancient Gitzferald Barrels by Modern Times Beer at Scarborough Village
#CatchingUp #SoBroEuchre Absolutely a standout - rich, well integrated barrel and balanced chocolate sweetness. Thanks Jeff R.
John BD is drinking The Heavenly Atmosphere of Unrelenting Nothingness by Burial Beer Co. at Scarborough Village
#CatchingUp #SoBroEuchre I love me some hazelnuts in beer, but man, as an adjunct I think it’s best as a companion to coffee. This is still very good, big thicc body that coats the palate and is sweet but not cloying. Thanks Dan H.
John BD is drinking a Raspberry Créme Brûlée by Boneflower Craft Mead at Scarborough Village
#CatchingUp #SoBroEuchre Lots of raspberry of course, which I normally totally love - but the back-end sweetness on this was intense enough to lower my enjoyment of this a bit.
Eclipse!
